SHOW YOUR ENGINEERING TALENT, WORK FOR THE BENEFIT OF HUMANITY AND WIN $1000.

If you are an undergraduate engineering student in any university in the Asia Pacific, you can enter this exciting competition along with your friends by making a team of up to 5 members. Teams will be required to design an emergency shelter in an area affected by a natural disaster and immediately in the wake of the disaster. The shelter will be made from whatever materials (rubble) are available at the disaster site, and is meant to provide interim accommodation for four weeks until more permanent dwellings can be provided by the rescue teams.

The 10 best teams will be will be selected to participate in the final round and will be asked to build a prototype of their design. ASME will provide funding for building the prototype. The top three teams in the final round will be awarded $1000 and will be invited to an ASME International Event for the reception of their award.

The HSSDC was developed by the ASME Asia Pacific District to establish not only an encouraging contest for students to develop their professional and engineering abilities but also to benefit humanity from our efforts. Engineers are known to be problem solvers and this contest certainly focuses on solving problems for humanity during a natural disaster. This is the first year of the contest. We look forward to all our Student Members in the Asia Pacific to participate in this contest and make it a success. Our team has put in a lot of efforts to bring out this amazing contest. We wish good luck to all the participants!
