Requirements and Entry Forms | Each
competitor must be a Undergraduate Dues Paid Student Member of ASME who:
has
not received an engineering degree (Student Members who complete the requirements
for their baccalaureate engineering degree, or who actually received that degree
at the end of a term, semester, or quarter, a short time before a scheduled conference
may still participate. These Student Members, however, must not have completed
their degree requirements before December 1, 2007.) has been selected
by his/her Student Section to participate
has been certified as a Student
Member in good standing. (To be thus certified, a new or
renewing Student Member must have filed an application and paid the required dues
prior to submittal of contest entry form.) |

both orally and in writing. This competition is designed to emphasize the value
of an ability to deliver oral presentations. Competitors
in the Oral Presentation Competition may not compete in the Old Guard Technical
Poster Competition. |

in the Old Guard Technical Poster Competition may not compete in the Old Guard
Oral Presentation Competition. |

This competition, sponsored by the ASME Center for Professional Development, Practice
& Ethics and the ASME Knowledge and Community Sector, requires individuals or
teams of up to four student members design, construct and operate a prototype
meeting the requirements of a problem statement (No Limit on Number of Teams,
however, a student may participate only one team.) Undergraduate Students Only |

COMPETITION PRIZES: Teams
that place first at Student Professional Development Conferences are invited to
participate in an international competition held at ASME's International Mechanical
Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE). 1st Place:
Teams receive $500, a trophy, and a travel allowance to go to the finals of up
to $1200 per team with a maximum of four team members.
2nd Place: Teams receive $300 and a plaque. 3rd Place: Teams receive $150
and a plaque.
INTERNATIONAL FINALS PRIZES at ASME's
2008 IMECE in Boston, MA 1st Place: The prize consists
of $3000 plus $1000 awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.
2nd Place: The prize consists of $1000 plus $500 awarded to the Student Section
of the Winner's Institution. 3rd Place: The prize consists of $500 plus $250
