SUBJ:Spring Student Professional Development Conferences

Dear Student Section Leaders and Student Section Advisors:

There seem to be concerns about which of the ASME Southeast District Student Professional Development Conferences (SPDCs) Student Sections must attend this spring. I have been copied on emails containing some fanciful information.

During the old regional era student conference activities were pretty much locked in. Not so in the Southeast District. We are going to have two SPDCs:

University of South Carolina in Columbia SC - March 23-24
University of Florida in Gainesville FL - March 29-30

Your ASME Student Section can go to either of them - your choice, no strings, so start planning and sign up early.

If neither of the these SPDCs dates or locations are workable, please take a look at the SPDC's in the American Northeast District A and Mid-American District B. The southern District A SPDC is at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark NJ on April 14 2007. The eastern District B SPDC has not been announced yet so you will need to keep checking their website.

Should you want to go to another District's SPDC just email me and I will ask the District Leader to allow you to go.

The intent of the new ASME District system is to allows you as much choice as possible.

Best Regards,

Richard
